David Scates

Memorial services for Mr. David Scates, 77, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Central Avenue Christian Church in Humboldt, Tenn. Visitation will be held prior from 2 until 4 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Scates passed away June 28, 2024, at his home in Humboldt.

He was born in Brownsville, Tenn. to the late Dan Scates and Sue (Younger) Scates. Mr. Scates was an active member of Central Ave. Christian Church; was retired from the state of Tennessee where he worked in tax enforcement; member of SonShiners choir and the Scates Family Gospel Group.

Mr. Scates was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 51 years, Brenda Scates.

He is survived by his son, Brad Scates and wife Melanie; daughter, Jennifer Warren; sister, Carol House and husband Carl; and grandchildren, Hunter and Laura Beth Scates.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to SonShiners choir, in care of The Church at Sugar Creek, 3400 East Mitchell Street, Humboldt, TN 38343, in Mr. Scates’ memory.
