“I told you, ‘I’m the 1972 Miami Dolphins!” I said walking in the office Monday morning with confidence.

Victor Parkins rolled his eyes and turned to look like he was typing at his computer.

Like I could be ignored.

“Two weeks, two perfect pick’ems,” I laughed.

“Don’t you have a region golf tournament to be at, or have some stories to write,” Parkins grumbled.

But then I took it too far, as I pulled the string and the popper exploded sending confetti all over Parkins’ desk.

“You got me by one game, I am still coming for you, and your luck will end soon,” Parkins said, sending me to get the broom.

I was 15-for-15 for the second straight week. Parkins went 14-1 with his lone miss being Fayette Academy’s win over Halls.

We both went 6-0 in picking Gibson County area games, and we are both 28-2 (.933 winning percentage) in picking the county games.

My lead on Parkins grew to seven games. I am now 80-10 (.889) on the season, while Parkins is 73-17 (.811) through six weeks of the season.

Does my two weeks of perfect picks end in Week 7?

Union City (3-3, 2-0 7-2A) at Milan (4-2, 2-1)

The Golden Tornadoes have won three straight games, but Milan has played the tougher schedule. The Bulldogs picked up a big win over an athletic JCM team last week, and a win here would be a big step in securing a home playoff game.

Lexington (6-0, 4-0 7-4A) at South Gibson (3-3, 2-1)

The Hornets have won three straight games, and they seem to be righting the ship. But Lexington is undefeated for a reason. The Tigers’ offense has been tough to stop.

Peabody (3-3, 1-2 7-2A) at Halls (2-4, 0-2)

Both of these teams are coming off losses last week, but this is a region game. A loss here would come close to eliminating that team from playoff contention.

Greenfield (4-2, 1-1 7-1A) at Humboldt (6-0, 3-0)

The Vikings have been untouchable against Class 1A teams. Humboldt has its eyes on the Region 7-1A title, and a win here puts them one win away from securing that.

JCM (3-3, 1-2 7-2A) at Gibson County (1-5, 0-3)

The Cougars came close to pulling off a win against Milan. Expect JCM to play with a chip on their shoulder and pick up a second region win on the season.

Lake County (3-2, 1-0 7-1A) at West Carroll (0-6, 0-3)

After a forfeit win and field victories over Gleason and Fulton County (Ky.), the Falcons look to be playing well. West Carroll scored a season-high 20 points last week, but can the War Eagles get a win?
