Velma Malone
Funeral services for Velma E. Malone, 97, of Gibson, Tenn. were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Bodkin Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Gibson County Memory Gardens near Milan, Tenn. Visitation with the family was Saturday from 1 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Malone was born to the late Marion and Nannie Jo Hayes Weaver on August 1, 1927.
She passed away August 6, 2024 at Christian Care Center of Medina.
Mrs. Malone was a member of First Assembly Milan. She was a retired seamstress and talented lifelong quilter. Many of her quilts won ribbons at the Gibson County Fair. Mrs. Malone loved to garden both vegetables and flowers, canning and freezing much of her harvest. She also enjoyed being a member of Gibson County Garden Club for many years.
She is survived by a son, Garry Malone and wife Pat of Franklin, Tenn.; a daughter, Vickie Sperling and husband Gary of Gibson; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Malone was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Malone; a brother, Paul Weaver; and three sisters, Edith Marceil Burzynski, Ruby Evelyn McClure and Wanda Faye Williamson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Assembly of Milan.
