Top 15 rising seniors in Gibson County for the 2024-25 school year

With the dead period now in the books, it is time to look toward the new school year.

Now, we will look at who the top rising seniors are for the 2023-24 year. These are athletes that you should get out and watch this season.
1. Sierra Healy (South Gibson girls soccer) – Healy was named the 2023 All-Gibson County girls soccer player of the year after helping lead the Lady Hornets to the Class AA semifinals for the second time in program history. The midfielder scored 33 goals and added seven assists as South Gibson won the District 13-AA and Region 7-AA championships.
2. Gabe Lovorn (South Gibson football) – Lovorn has picked up multiple offers over the summer as he holds offers from Austin Peay, Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Marshall, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Ole Miss, SEMO, Temple, Tulane and UT Martin. He played running back and linebacker last year. He had 150 carries for 1,256 yards with 18 touchdowns to go with eight catches for 115 yards and one touchdown. He also has 23 tackles with six tackles for loss and one sack.
3. Aubrey Colvin (South Gibson girls soccer) – Colvin played a key role as the top attacker in helping the Lady Hornets reach the Class AA state semifinals for the second time in program history. She finished the season with 38 goals and 16 assists.
4. Hannah Prestininzi (Gibson County volleyball) – Prestininzi helped lead the Lady Pioneers to the Class A state tournament for the second straight season. Playing as the setter, she had 831 assists, 114 aces, 141 digs and 63 digs.
5. Jack Bradberry (South Gibson baseball) – Bradberry played a key role in helping the Hornets return to the Class 3A state tournament for the third straight season. He is one of the best on the mound as he went 5-2 with one save in 54 innings pitched as he struckout 53 with a 0.89 ERA. Opposing batters held a .195 batting average against him.
6. Jayden Milton (West Carroll football) – Milton was a workhorse last season at running back for the War Eagles. West Carroll reached the playoffs for the sixth straight season as he had 221 carries for 1,797 yards with 22 touchdowns to go along with five catches for 32 yards.
7. Brooklyn Davidson (South Gibson softball) – Davidson’s bat was a key reason why the Lady Hornets reached the Class 3A state tournament for the second time in program history. The second baseman batted .478 with 48 RBI, 14 doubles and nine home runs.
8. Colin Milligan (Milan baseball) – Milligan dealt with a shoulder injury most of last season, but his bat was consistent all year and his pitching was key in the postseason as the Bulldogs finished in the state semifinals of Class 2A. He batted .429 with 37 runs, seven doubles, two triples, one home run, 17 RBI and 13 stolen bases.
9. Gage Nesbitt (South Gibson baseball) – Nesbitt was key in the Hornets reaching the Class 3A state tournament for the third straight season with his bat and defensive effort at third base. He batted .368 with 46 hits, 11 doubles, three triples, one home run, 34 RBI, 26 runs and 12 stolen bases.
10. Josh Gonzales (Milan boys soccer) – Gonzales, the 2024 All-Gibson County boys soccer player of the year, helped the Bulldogs make history in making the Class A sectionals for the second time in program history. He excels on the defensive side of the field, but he also had one goal and two assists last year.
11. Reagan Jones (Milan girls tennis) – Jones has been the All-Gibson County girls tennis player of the year for the past two seasons. Last year, she helped the Lady Bulldogs win the Region 8-A title for the first time in program history, and she joined Anniston Allen on a doubles team to reach the Class A state quarterfinals.
12. Kylan Finch (Gibson County boys basketball) – Finch will return to lead the Pioneers under a new head coach in Tyler Tate. Last season, he averaged 15.8 points and 1.6 steals per game in leading Gibson County to 12 wins.
13. Kasen Yates (Milan baseball) – Yates was key in the Bulldogs’ run to the Class 2A state tournament, but he went to basic training before the state tournament started. He will be back for his senior year soon. Last season, he went 6-0 with one save in 45 innings pitched, as he struckout 47 with a 2.18 ERA and nine walks given up.
14. Joshswade Jones (Peabody football) – Jones is one of the top defensive ends in West Tennessee and knows how to disrupt an offense. He helped the Golden Tide to the second round of the Class 2A playoffs as he recorded 23 solo tackles with six assists and eight tackles for loss.
15. Kylie Ballentine (South Gibson softball) – Ballentine committed to Alabama-Huntsville earlier this summer after helping the Lady Hornets to the Class 3A state tournament in May for the second time in program history. She had few errors at first base, and she was a key bat as she recorded eight home runs, two triples and nine doubles last season.
