Top 15 high school rising seniors in Weakley County for the 2026-27 school year

Now that the calendar has turned to July, it is time to start looking toward the new school year.
In June, we looked back at the most memorable games, top coaching jobs, top teams and top athletic performances from the 2025-26 school year.
But now we look toward 2026-27 with the top rising seniors for the coming year:
1. Asa Barnes (Westview football) – Barnes played running back for the Chargers last season and helped to balance the attack as they won the Class 3A state championship with a 14-0 record. He rushed for 1,270 yards and 25 touchdowns on 146 carries to go with 567 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 27 receptions.
2. Ashlee Brent (Westview girls soccer) – Brent helped lead the Lady Chargers to the program’s first Class A state championship. And Westview became the first West Tennessee public school to win a state championship. She was named the 2025 All-Weakley County Girls Soccer Player of the Year as she finished the season with 30 goals and 22 assists with a total of 84 shots on goal.
3. Miles Brown (Westview football) – Brown recently committed to Kentucky, and he played wide receiver and defensive back last season as the Chargers won 14 straight games to earn the Class 3A state title. He recorded 40 tackles with four interceptions, two fumble recoveries and six pass break-ups to go with 812 receiving yards with 13 touchdowns.
4. Rayanna Fisher (Greenfield girls basketball) — Fisher helped the Lady Yellowjackets to the Class 1A state semifinals and was named a Class 1A Miss Basketball finalist. She averaged 19.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 3.5 assists.
5. Will Edwards (Westview baseball) – Edwards had a stellar junior season in helping the Yellowjackets reach the Class 1A state tournament for the first time in program history after winning the District 14-1A and Region 7-1A tournaments. He has transferred to Westview for his senior season after he batted .462 with 13 doubles, two home runs and 41 RBI. On the mound, he went 10-2 with a 1.06 ERA and 124 strikeouts.
6. Cruze Porter (Westview boys basketball) — Porter was the go-to scorer for the Yellowjackets last season as they finished fourth in District 14-1A during the regular season. Porter has transferred to Westview for his senior season after averaging 16.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.9 steals last season
7. Finn Snider (Westview football) – Snider was the leader on the defensive side of the ball last year and helped the Chargers win the Class 3A state championship with a 14-0 record. He recorded 150 total tackles to go with nine tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble, one interception and one blocked kick.
8. Gage Byington (Gleason football) – Byington can make plays all over the field for the Bulldogs. He can take a handoff and get up the field, catch a pass, take a direct snap and run or field a kickoff or punt.
9. Ashlee Brent (Westview girls basketball) – Brent helped keep the longest streak of Class 2A state tournament appearances alive as she helped the Lady Chargers reach a 14th straight state tournament. She averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.6 steals.
10. Deegan Arant (Greenfield boys cross country) – Arant is a strong long-distance runner, and he can play a little tennis too. In the fall, he reached the Class A state meet and finished sixth with a time of 16:47.23. He also competed well in the 3200-meter and 1600-meter runs during the track & field season. On the tennis court, he played as the Yellowjackets’ No. 1 singles player and reached the District 14-A semifinals in singles play.
11. Coree Wells (Westview football) – Wells transferred in from Gibson County and helped solidify the linebacking corps for the Chargers last season as they went 14-0 and won the Class 3A state championship. He recorded 109 total tackles with 11 tackles for loss, five sacks, three fumble recoveries and one interception.
12. Alaina Uselton (Westview girls cross country) – Uselton is a strong long-distance runner for the Lady Chargers. In the fall, she reached the Class AA state meet in cross country and finished seventh in the state with a time of 19:36.13. In the spring, she ran track & field and finished fourth in the 3200-meter run in the Class A state meet with a time of 11:59.35.
13. Landon Floyd (Dresden boys basketball) – Floyd helped the Lions improve throughout the season during a rebuilding year, and the team reached the Region 7-1A quarterfinals at the end of the season. He averaged 12.4 points and 6.5 rebounds, while shooting 57 percent from the field.
14. Nick Brown (Greenfield boys basketball) – Brown’s role will increase this season for the Yellowjackets to have success. Brown was crucial in Greenfield finishing fourth-place in District 14-1A last year as he averaged 8.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals, while shooting 34 percent from 3-point range.
15. Kinzer Pratt (Westview football) – Pratt’s kicking ability played a crucial role on special teams as the Chargers won 14 games last season and clinched the Class 3A state championship. He converted 65 extra points and was 2-of-2 on field goals, while also hitting 10 touchbacks on kickoffs.
