Pirtle Resigns As South Gibson Boys Basketball Coach

Drew Pirtle has coached the South Gibson boys basketball team for the past two seasons with one trip to the Class 2A State Quarterfinals.
After two seasons in charge, South Gibson boys basketball coach Drew Pirtle announced on Friday that he is resigning. Pirtle is taking the Athletic Director position at Columbia Academy.
“We are excited for Drew, Andrea and Miller in this next chapter in their lives,” South Gibson Athletic Director Mark Dunn said via press release. “We will miss them greatly. Coach Pirtle has done a tremendous job during his time here. His teams have exhibited hard work, determination, and class as a directly reflection of their coach. He is a great human. And I know that he will do a great job guiding the student athletes at Columbia Academy.”
Last season Pirtle lead the Hornets to their best finish in program history as they reached the Class 2A State Quarterfinals. In his two seasons in charge, South Gibson is 42 – 23, winning a district and region title in his second year.
South Gibson administration will immediately begin the search for it’s new head boys basketball coach.
“Coach Pirtle has been an invaluable part of SGCHS family, and while we are sad to see him leave, we are incredibly proud of him as he steps into his new role as athletic director,” South Gibson Principal Amber Harris said via press release. “His dedication, integrity, and unwavering commitment to our students and programs have left a lasting impact on our school. Coach Pirtle’s character speaks for itself, he leads with heart, discipline, and a true passion for helping others succeed. We are grateful for all he has poured into SGCHS and we wish him nothing but the very best in his next chapter.”
