Paul D. Childress

Funeral services for Mr. Paul D. Childress, 91, were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024 in the Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home chapel. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation was Friday from 5 until 7 p.m.

Mr. Childress passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 in Milan following a brief illness.

He was born in Humboldt, Tenn. to the late Elvis Arthur Childress and Velma Pearl Gardner Childress.

Mr. Childress retired as a maintenance tech from Jones Manufacturing after 47 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Childress; parents, Elvis Arthur and Velma Pearl Childress; a daughter, Lisa Hensel; a sister, Nettye Hammett; two brothers, Preston Childress and Chester Lee Childress; two infant sisters; two granddaughters, Shalinda Hatcher and Tara Hatcher; and a great-grandson, Caleb Terrell.

Mr. Childress is survived by two daughters, Paula Wade (Bob) and Jennifer Childress; a son, Kenneth Childress; six grandchildren, Lauren Wade, Erin Wade, Jason Hartman, Olivia Hartman, Bruce Hatcher and Paul Childress; five great-grandchildren, Emma Coleman, Brody Hartman, Nathan Hatcher, Brayden Childress and Lilian Childress; two great-great-grandchildren, Carter Patterson and Leo Kinton; and a niece Beth Buchanan.

Serving as pallbearers were Jason Hartman, Marvin Sikes, Paul Hatcher, Bruce Hatcher, Benny Doyle and Danny Wade.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Jude Hospital.
