Lady Hornets split week with tough teams

After a solid 2-1 start in the first week of their 2016 season, South Gibson’s varsity net squad picked up a nice 3-2 win against Chester County last Tuesday night.

The Lady Hornets roasted the Lady Eagles 3-2 with senior Leigh Walker pounding out a team-high 13 kills. Chrissy Lenard kept the girls afloat with 12 digs and Gabbi Helton and Rebecca Thompson put a stop to the Chester County attack with a combined 13 blocks.

SGC hit a wall the following Thursday when they were swept 3-0 by the Dyersburg Lady Trojans in their first District match. The girls took on Liberty and a mystery opponent in a tri-match Monday night and will face off against Milan’s Lady Bulldogs Tuesday night in what is sure to be a heated contest before finishing their week at the Hornet’s Nest against Crockett County.
