Top 15 Weakley County high school athletic performances for 2025-26 season

Westview quarterback Graham Simpson led the Chargers to the Class 3A state championship and was named the Tennessee Titans Class 3A Mr. Football winner.
Over the month of June, we have looked back at the most memorable games, the top coaching performances and top teams from across Weakley County for the 2025-26 season.
In our final look back, we will look at the top 15 athletic performances in a season. Narrowing this down to 15 was extremely hard as multiple players in the fall, winter and spring played a high level.
But here are the top 15 athletic performances in a season:
1. Graham Simpson (Westview football, So.) – Simpson helped lead the Chargers to the Class 3A state championship, the program’s second state title. He was named the Tennessee Titans Class 3A Mr. Football as he completed 194-of-256 passes for 3,565 yards and 43 touchdowns with only three interceptions to go with 204 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
2. Easton Sullivan (Greenfield baseball, Sr.) – Sullivan helped the Yellowjackets to the Class 1A state tournament for the first time in program history. He was named the TSBA Class 1A Mr. Baseball winner for the second straight season. The Delta State signee batted .649 with 17 doubles, five triples, six home runs, 55 RBI and 35 runs scored. On the mound, he went 9-2 with 100 strikeouts and a 1.64 ERA.
3. Asa Barnes (Westview football, Jr.) – Barnes played a key role in helping the Chargers win the Class 3A state championship by leading the rushing attack. He rushed for 1,270 yards and 25 touchdowns on 146 carries to go with 567 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 27 receptions.
4. Ashlee Brent (Westview girls soccer, Jr.) – Brent helped lead the Lady Chargers to the program’s first ever Class A state championship, becoming the first West Tennessee public school to win a title. She finished the season with 30 goals and 22 assists with two goals coming the state championship match.
5. Rayanna Fisher (Greenfield girls basketball, Jr.) – Fisher helped the Lady Yellowjackets to the Class 1A state semifinals and was named a Class 1A Miss Basketball finalist. She averaged 19.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 3.5 assists.
6. Hudson McDaniel (Dresden girls cross country, Fr.) – McDaniel showed up on the high school scene quickly and proved to be one of the best runners in West Tennessee. She went on to win the Class A state championship with a time of 19:12.20. During the track season, McDaniel ran the 3200-meter run with a time of 11.48.12 to win the state title, beating McKenzie’s Abigail Wallace by 2.78 seconds.
7. Ella Porter (Greenfield girls basketball, Fr.) – Porter helped the Lady Yellowjackets to the Class 1A state semifinals. She averaged 21.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 3.2 steals.
8. Jack Mantooth (Westview boys cross country and track, Sr.) – Mantooth continued to dominate West Tennessee in long distance running this past year. In the fall, he finished third in the Class AA state meet with a time of 15:42.94. In the spring, he ran track and reached the Class A state meet in the 3200-meter and 1600-meter run. Mantooth won the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:38.15, and he finished second with a time of 4:28.91 in the 1600-meter run.
9. Vaughn Bounds (Dresden boys cross country, So.) – Bounds had a strong sophomore season that ended with the Class A state championship. He won with a time of 16:18.79. During track season, Bounds won the Class A 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.21, which was 2.43 seconds ahead of Gatlinburg-Pittman’s Bradyn Lewis.
10. Kohen McWherter (Westview baseball, So.) – McWherter helped lead the Chargers to the Class 2A semifinals after winning the District 14-2A and Region 7-2A championships. He batted .404 with three doubles and two triples. And on the mound, he went 8-3 with a 2.08 ERA and 69 strikeouts.
11. Will Edwards (Greenfield baseball, Jr.) – Edwards played a key role in helping the Yellowjackets reach the Class 1A state tournament for the first time in program history after winning the District 14-1A and Region 7-1A championships. He batted .462 with 13 doubles, two home runs and 41 RBI. On the mound, he went 10-2 with a 1.06 ERA and 124 strikeouts.
12. Miles Brown (Westview football, Jr.) – Brown played wide receiver and defensive back as the Chargers went 14-0 and won the Class 3A state championship. He recorded 40 tackles with four interceptions, two fumble recoveries and six pass break-ups to go with 812 receiving yards with 13 touchdowns.
13. Ashlee Brent (Westview girls basketball, Jr.) – Brent continued the Lady Chargers’ state-best streak of appearance in the Class 2A state tournament. She averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.6 steals.
14. Luke DiPietro (Dresden football, Sr.) – DiPietro led the Lions to the Region 7-1A championship and was named a Tennessee Titans Class 1A Mr. Football semifinalist. He rushed for 1,652 yards and 26 touchdowns on 182 carries.
15. Maddie Horton (Westview girls soccer, Sr.) – Horton played a key role in the Lady Chargers winning the Class A state championship, as the team mercy-ruled the opposition in seven of the nine postseason matches. She had 21 goals and 19 assists.
