With the midway point of the season upon us, the Gleason and Greenfield football teams seemed to right some early wrongs last week with wins over Lake County and Fulton County (Ky.), respectively.

A big stretch of Region 7-1A games are ahead for both teams, culminating in the two meeting in Week 11.

I went 3-1 last week with my Weakley County picks with my lone miss coming with Gleason’s win over Lake County.

I am now 13-5 (.722 winning percentage) with my county picks.

Overall, I went 13-2 with my other miss coming in North Side’s win over Dyer County. After five weeks, I am now 55-20 (.733).

So here is hoping for another strong week in Week 6:

Perry County (2-3) at Gleason (2-3)

When: 7 p.m., Friday

Now, we will see if the Bulldogs’ offense will continue to roll for a second straight week. Greenfield was one yard from beating the Vikings, so Gleason will try to take it a step further and win the game.

Lausanne (1-2) at Westview (4-0)

When: 7 p.m., Friday

The Lynx have played a tough first three games with losses coming against Southwind and Germantown, but Westview is a good side also. This will be closer than the last two games for the Chargers.

Dresden (2-3, 1-1 7-1A) at Humboldt (2-3, 1-1)

When: 7 p.m., Friday

The Lions have been in an offensive rhythm the past two weeks, and that could be key this week as they return to region action. Humboldt gave up 38 points to a West Carroll team that Dresden shut out.

Greenfield (2-3, 0-1 7-1A) at West Carroll (1-4, 0-2)

When: 7 p.m., Friday

Greenfield coach Don Pitt felt like his team turned a corner last week with the win over Fulton County (Ky.). A win here would give the Yellowjackets their first region win and even their overall record back to .500.
