Gibson County Grand Jury
The Gibson County Grand Jury convened on August 25, returning indictments on multiple offenses, including murder and rape of a child. Michelle Van Straten will be standing trial for first degree murder, two counts of first degree murder in perpetration/attempted perpetration of a crime, conspiracy to commit first degree murder, facilitating of first degree murder, aggravated robbery, and theft of property ($10,000 – $60,000) for her role in the 2023 death of 73-year-old Gary Boyett. Van Straten, 33, allegedly strangled Boyett with the cord of a lamp while robbing him, then fled to Mississippi. She was taken into custody in Florida last August.
Ramon Manaois Guirnalda is facing charges of rape of a child, two counts of aggravated sexual battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, attempted rape of a child, and continuous sexual abuse of a child, stemming from several incidents between December 2022 and December 2024. The victim was under the age of 13 at the time of the offenses. Guirnalda will also stand trial for domestic assault involving a different victim.

Jacob Franklin Gilliland – aggravated assault, reckless endangerment (vehicle/ felony), child abuse/ neglect/endangerment (eight years or younger) (imminent danger)
Caprice Tyrell Anderson – aggravated assault (victim pregnant at time of offense), resisting stop/ arrest/search (no weapon)
Justin Lee McGuire – aggravated assault (use or display of a deadly weapon), domestic assault, disorderly conduct
Michael Matthew Adkisson – domestic assault, evading arrest (vehicle)
