The 2025 high school football season is here!

After all of the summer workouts, 7-on-7 scrimmages, full-padded practices in the head and full-padded scrimmage, games begin to matter this week.

And returning for a second season is the Weakley County pick’em.

Our sports writer Michael Odom will pick the scores of all Weakley County high school football games along with around 10 of the other top games in West Tennessee.

Play along at home, and see if you are smarter than Odom at picking games.

MASE at Westview (7 p.m., Friday)

The Chargers host the defending Class 1A state champions to open the season. MASE will have speed, but I don’t think they will have the number of high-caliber athletes to keep up  with Westview.

Odom’s Pick: Westview 40, MASE 14

TCA at Dresden (7 p.m., Friday)

The Lions have much higher expectations this season with lots of experience back on both sides of the ball. TCA will be a tough test to open the season, but this game should be won in the trenches, setting up Dresden’s rushing game.

Odom’s Pick: Dresden 27, TCA 21

Perry County at Greenfield (7 p.m., Friday)

The Yellowjackets should be getting in a rhythm offensively now that everyone is home and playing together. Greenfield has looked good the past two weeks in scrimmage, so hopefully that continues in the regular season.

Odom’s Pick: Greenfield 21, Perry County 14

Gleason at Fulton County (Ky.) (7 p.m., Friday)

The smallest football-playing schools in Tennessee and Kentucky will face off again to open the season. Two years ago, there was a lighting issue at Fulton County, so the last two meetings have been at Gleason.
