Westview opens the 2025 West Tennessee High School Football Rankings at No. 1
Week 1 of the high school football season is here. Last season ended with Milan and Westview finishing as state runners-up after a strong season across West Tennessee.
But now 2025 is here and the trek toward Chattanooga this week.
Before games begin, here are the top 15 teams in West Tennessee:
1. Westview (14-1) – The Chargers won the Region 7-3A title and reached the Class 3A state championship game last season before losing to perennial powerhouse Alcoa in the championship game.
2. Milan (13-2) – The Bulldogs won the Region 6-2A title and reached the Class 2A state championship game last season before losing to Marion County in the championship game.
3. Haywood (9-3) – The Tomcats fell in the Class 4A second round to Melrose although that game has since been given to Haywood as a win as Melrose was forced to forfeit wins due to using an ineligible player.
4. JCM (9-3) – The Cougars reached the Class 2A second round and lost to Milan, a team that JCM beat during the regular season.
5. Henry County (7-5) – The Patriots reached the second round of the Class 5A playoffs last season before losing to Springfield. Henry County also got a new coach in Josh Wolfe.
6. Covington (11-2) – The Chargers only losses came to Westview in Week 11 of the regular season and the Class 3A state quarterfinals.
7. McKenzie (13-1) – The Rebels were undefeated going into Class 1A semifinals and held a lead on Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering (MASE) midway through the fourth quarter before losing to the eventual state champions.
8. Riverside (7-5) – The Panthers reached the Class 2A second round before losing to Huntingdon, and this team is now in Region 5-2A away from Milan, JCM and Huntingdon.
9. Crockett County (8-4) – The Cavaliers finished third in Region 7-4A and lost to Dyer County in the Class 4A second round.
10. North Side (6-5) – The Indians finished runner-up in Region 6-4A and lost to Station Camp in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs.
11. Dyersburg (7-4) – The Trojans finished third in Region 7-3A last year and fell in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs to Westview.
12. Peabody (4-6) – The Golden Tide is under a new head coach in Tab Vowell after missing the Class 2A playoffs last season, finishing fifth in Region 6-2A.
13. Chester County (8-4) – The Eagles won the Region 6-4A regular season title and reached the Class 4A second round before losing to Pearl Cohn.
14. Huntingdon (10-3) – The Mustangs finished second in Region 6-2A last season and lost to Milan in the Class 2A quarterfinals.
15. South Gibson (4-7) – The Hornets finished fourth in Region 6-4A and lost to Pearl Cohn in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.
