Top 15 rising high school juniors in Weakley County for the 2025-26 school year

As the 2025-26 school year continues to near, we broke down the top 15 seniors going into the year last week. This week, we look at the top 15 returning juniors in Weakley County for the upcoming school year.

1. Asa Barnes (Westview football) – Barnes helped lead the Chargers to a 14-win season and a spot in the Class 3A title game last year as he rushed for 812 yards and 19 touchdowns, while also recording 215 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, he had 55 total tackles with 26 solo, five tackles for loss, two sacks, one fumble recovery and one interception.

2. Miles Brown (Westview football, boys basketball) – Brown was a two-sport star for the Chargers last season. In football last season, Brown helped the Chargers to a 14-win season and a spot in the Class 3A title game as he had 974 receiving yards with 16 touchdowns on 53 receptions. He also recorded 39 total tackles with 16 solo, three interceptions – including two that were returned for touchdowns – and four pass breakups. In basketball last season, Brown helped lead the Chargers to the Region 7-2A semifinals as he averaged 12 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 steals.

3. Rayanna Fisher (Greenfield girls basketball) – Last year, Fisher helped lead the Lady Yellowjackets to the Class 1A state championship and was named the state tournament MVP as she averaged 16 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 3.2 steals, while shooting 35.8 percent from 3-point range.

4. Cruze Porter (Greenfield boys basketball) – Porter helped lead the Yellowjackets to the Region 7-1A quarterfinals last season as he averaged 150 points, three assists and two steals.

5. Finn Snider (Westview football) – Snider helped the Chargers to a 14-win season and a spot in the Class 3A title game last season as he recorded 134 total tackles with 34 solo, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

6. Gage Byington (Gleason football) – Byington helped the Bulldogs to a three-win season last season as he had 36 receptions for 828 yards – which is 23 yards per reception – with 11 touchdowns, and he rushed the ball 87 times for 732 yards and six touchdowns.

7. Will Edwards (Greenfield baseball) – Edwards helped lead the Yellowjackets to a 19-win season last year as he went 8-1 on the mound with a 2.50 ERA and 80 strikeouts and batted .484 with one home run, three triples, eight doubles and 28 RBI.

8. Ashlee Brent (Westview girls soccer, girls basketball) – Brent was a two-sport star for the Lady Chargers. In girls soccer last season, she led the Lady Chargers to the Class A state title match as she recorded 21 goals and 15 assists to go with 68 steals. In girls basketball, Brent helped the Lady Chargers to the Class 2A state championship as she averaged 6.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.4 steals, while 43.2 percent from the field.

9. Tayshun Walker (Westview boys basketball) – Walker helped lead the Chargers to the Region 7-2A semifinals last season as he averaged 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.2 steals.

10. Alaina Uselton (Westview cross country) – Uselton finished second in the Region 7 A-AA meet at Westview last season to earn an individual bid to the state meet as she finished runner-up with a time of 20:52.71, falling to Chester County’s Bella Lamb by 22.40 seconds. At the state meet, Uselton was the best finisher from Weakley County as she finished 27th with a time of 20:40.39.

11. Thomas Myers (Westview baseball) – Myers helped lead the Chargers to their first-ever appearance in the Class 2A state tournament last season as he batted .478 with 43 hits – including 13 doubles and one home run – along with 38 RBI.

12. Nick Brown (Greenfield boys basketball) – Brown helped lead the Yellowjackets to the Region 7-1A quarterfinals last season as he averaged 10 points, six rebounds and four assists.

13. Cael Mathis (Greenfield cross country) – Last season, Mathis finished ninth in the Region 7 A-AA race with a time of 17:26.22.

14. Ava Bennett (Gleason softball) – Bennett helped the Lady Bulldogs to a third-place finish in District 14-1A last season as she batted .375 with 21 runs and 17 RBI, while only making one defensive error in 22 games played.

15. Deegan Arant (Greenfield cross country) – Last season, Arant finished 11th in the Region 7 A-AA race with a time of 17:38.09.
