Top 15 rising high school seniors in Gibson County for the 2025-26 school year

With dead period coming to a close, athletes are back practicing and getting ready for the 2025-26 athletic season.

Over the month of June, we looked back at what last year brought us with the most memorable games, top coaching jobs, best teams and top athletic performances.

Now, we look toward the upcoming year. Here are the top 15 rising high school seniors in Gibson County for the 2025-26 school year.

1. Jaydon Peete (Milan football) – Peete returns after being named the Tennessee Titans Class 2A Mr. Football winner as he led the Bulldogs to the Class 2A state championship game, and he was the 2024 All-Gibson County football player of the year. He recorded 2,348 rushing yards with 32 touchdowns on 218 carries, averaging 10.8 yards per carry, while catching 10 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, he had 94 total tackles with 19 assists, 15 tackles for loss, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

2. Cade Allen (South Gibson baseball) – Allen, a Tennessee commitment, will try to lead the Hornets to their first-ever Class 3A state championship after a top-four finish in the Class 3A state tournament last season as he went 6-2 on the mound to go with two saves over 63 innings pitched, striking out 108 with a 0.56 ERA and a .131 batting average against. He also batted .280 with 11 doubles, 31 RBI and 30 runs. He is a 2025 All-Gibson County baseball co-player of the year.

3. Tommy Baker (South Gibson baseball) – Baker, a Middle Tennessee State University commitment, will also be a key piece in trying to lead the Hornets to a Class 3A state championship after he helped the Hornets to a top-four finish last year as he batted .385 with 16 doubles, six triples, four home runs, 34 RBI and 51 runs. He is a 2025 All-Gibson County baseball co-player of the year.

4. Jonathan Lewis (South Gibson cross country, boys soccer and track & field) – Lewis was named the All-Gibson County male athlete of the year for 2024-25 as he reached the state tournament in three sports. In cross country, Lewis reached the Class A-AA state meet and finished 23rd with a time of 16:55.28. At the region meet, he finished runner-up with a time of 16:42.69. In boys soccer, he helped lead the Hornets to the Class AA state quarterfinals as he recorded 11 goals and 11 assists. In track, Lewis ran one leg of the Hornets’ 4×800 meter relay that reached the Class AA state meet and finished eighth with a time of 9:28.71.

5. Camryn Greene (Milan softball) – Greene, the 2025 All-Gibson County softball player of the year, will try to lead the Lady Bulldogs back to the Class 2A state tournament after playing a key role in their first trip to the state tournament last year. She went 17-6 in the circle with 232 strikeouts and a 1.08 ERA. She also batted .489 with three home runs, 10 doubles, 48 hits and 33 RBI.

6. Cade Beaver (South Gibson football) – Beaver, a member of the 2024 All-Gibson County football team on defense, led the Hornets in tackles last season, and he will try to do the same this year. He helped the Hornets finish third in Region 6-4A as he had a team-leading 103 total tackles with 15 tackles for loss, one sack, one fumble recovery, four pass breakups and two interceptions.

7. Yahya Gaad (South Gibson football) – Gaad, a UCLA commitment, helped the Hornets finish third in Region 6-4A as he recorded 50 total tackles with 28 tackles for loss, six sacks on forced fumble and one blocked extra point.

8. Karson Dunn (South Gibson girls basketball) – Dunn helped lead the Lady Hornets to the Class 3A semifinals last season as she averaged 8.1 points, 3.7 assists and 1.6 steals, while shooting 33 percent from 3-point range.

9. Koen Thomas (South Gibson boys basketball) – Thomas helped lead the Hornets to the Region 7-3A quarterfinals last season as he averaged 14.3 points, leading the team in points, steals, assists and blocks, while finishing second on the team in rebounds.

10. Sania Reaves (Gibson County girls basketball, volleyball) – Reaves excelled in two sports for the Lady Pioneers. In girls basketball, Reaves helped lead the Lady Pioneers to the Class 2A sectionals as she averaged 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.4 steals, while shooting 49.5 percent from the field. In volleyball, Reaves helped lead the Lady Pioneers to the Class A state tournament as she recorded 336 kills and 61 blocks.

11. Jaydon Reed (South Gibson football) – At running back, Reed helped the Hornets finish third in Region 6-4A last season as he carried the ball 178 times for 1,015 yards and five touchdowns with a 5.7 yards per carry. He also had 15 receptions for 114 yards and one touchdown.

12. Terrence Moses (Milan football) – At defensive back, Moses helped lead the Bulldogs to the Class 2A state championship game last season as he recorded 52 total tackles with 12 assists, eight tackles for loss and five pass breakups.

13. Jeremiah Jones (Humboldt football) – At running back, Jones helped the Vikings to a three-win season as he rushed the ball for 1,028 yards and 15 touchdowns on 146 carries for 7.04 yards per carry. He also caught 32 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns.

14. Emmanuel Cannon (Peabody boys basketball) – Cannon helped lead the Golden Tide to the Class 2A sectionals as he averaged 13.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.9 assists.

15. KD Taylor (Humboldt football) – At quarterback, Taylor helped the Vikings to a three-win season as he completed 135-of-214 passes for 1,702 yards with 13 touchdowns. He also ran the ball 80 times for 361 yards and three touchdowns.
