Jessie Stills

Funeral services for Jessie Lou Stills, 83, of Gibson, were held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Bodkin Funeral Home. Burial to followed in the White Rose Cemetery in Gibson. Visitation with the family was Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stills was born on March 27, 1941 to Carter and Lucille Payne Berry in Gibson.

She married Jerry Thomas Stills who preceded her in death and they were members of the Gibson United Methodist Church.

Her love for working with children had no limit. She worked at Gibson High School and some daycare centers. Even after she left the workforce, she continued to spend her time and money voluntarily making craft projects for local elementary students to use in class.

Mrs. Stills was always there for everyone whether you were in the hospital or if someone had had a death in their family, she and Jerry were always at the funeral home supporting them. Together they traveled to visit their daughter and grandchildren to include travel to East Tennessee, Florida, North Dakota and even Hawaii and Germany. She lived in the same home in Gibson for about 55 years. Her favorite place to live, however, was the couple of years that Jerry was in the Army, and they lived in Salinas, Calif.

Mrs. Stills is survived by her children, Allison Bastin (Shawn) of Nashville, Tenn. and Courtney Anderson (Jeff) of Trenton, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Bryan Bastin, Cally Walker, (Alex), David Lee Damron and Rebekah Autry (Shane); and five great grandchildren, Lily Bastin, Hannah Bastin, Quinn Walker, Jacob Damron and Daisy Autry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Thomas Stills; and a sister, Doris Presley.
