Union City girls up to No. 8 in West Tennessee Basketball Rankings after Week 10

Two weeks of the high school basketball season is all that remains before district tournaments begin. Now is the time for the best teams to prove that they belong on top.

And for the most part, that is what has happened recently in West Tennessee.

No teams fell out of the rankings, so no new teams moved in. The biggest movers were Union City on the girls’ side moving up two spots and University School of Jackson moved up five sports to No. 7.

So here are the updated West Tennessee High School Basketball Rankings after 10 weeks of the regular season:

BOYS

1. South Side (16-1) – Results: Beat Hardin County 60-34; Beat Chester County 70-58. This week: Tuesday vs. North Side; Friday vs. Lexington. Last week: No. 1.

2. Fayette-Ware (17-5) – Results: Beat Bolivar 64-52; Beat Bolton 73-70. This week: Friday at Haywood; Saturday vs. TCA. Last week: No. 2.
