Milan School Board Selects Dr. Versie Hamlett as Director of Schools

Dr. Versie Hamlett will take over as Director of Schools in 2025 after a 6-1 vote by the Milan School Board on Monday evening. Kris Todd was the only board member not in favor of the hire.

Hamlett comes to Milan from Fayette County School System, where she has served as superintendent since October of 2020. She previously served as superintendent for Humboldt City Schools from May of 2014 to June of 2020, when she moved to Fayette County Schools.

The board voted to enter into contract negotiations with Hamlett with the goal of her taking over the position from Interim Director of Schools, Jackie Hopper, in January of 2025.
