Didn’t I say last week that Region 7-1A has got me confused this season? Well, that theme continued in Week 5.

I went 12-3 last week, and two of my three losses came in Region 7-1A. I missed Greenfield’s win over Gleason (not knowing that the Bulldogs would be playing without three key starters on offense) and Halls beating Lake County.

Who would have thought that Halls would be sitting atop the region standings after five weeks of the 2024 season.

Overall, I am 58-16 (.784 winning percentage) with my picks this season.

So now let’s talk Week 6 football – the midpoint of the 2024 season:

Dresden (1-4) at Obion County (1-4)

The Lions picked up their first win of the season last week, and now they will look to win a second straight. Dresden will have to play well in the second half to have the ability to pull out the win.

Ripley (2-3, 2-1 7-3A) at Westview (5-0, 2-0)

The Chargers withstood their first test of the season as they knocked off undefeated Dyer County. Now they get a Ripley team that is on a two-game winning streak.

South Fulton (4-1, 1-1 7-1A) at Gleason (3-2, 0-2)

The Bulldogs have lost two straight games. The hope is they will be healthy for this one, but there are no guarantees. South Fulton is coming off its first loss on the season.

Greenfield (4-1, 2-1 7-1A) at Union City (3-2, 2-0)

While the Yellowjackets have found ways to win in Region 7-1A play the past two weeks, the level of competition takes a step up this week. Greenfield gets the favorite to win Region 7-1A.
