Week 4 brought my best week of picks so far in the 2024 season. But Region 7-1A seems to still stump me.

I went 13-2, and both of my misses came in the region that involves Dresden, Gleason and Greenfield. I missed Greenfield’s win over Humboldt and South Fulton’s win over Lake County.

Week 5 doesn’t seem to have brought any easier matchups to pick.

Overall, I am 46-13 (.780 winning percentage) with my picks this season. So let’s bring on Week 5’s action:

Dyer County (4-0) at Westview (4-0)

The Chargers’ first test of the season will come in Week 5 of the season. The first four were easy wins, but the Choctaws are undefeated and have an offense that will make Westview play four quarters.

Gleason (3-1, 0-1 7-1A) at Greenfield (3-1, 1-1)

An 0-2 hole would be tough for the Bulldogs to fight out of, if they want to reach the playoffs. Greenfield bounced back from an opening region loss with a win over Humboldt, so can the momentum continue? This is a tough one to call, but I know it is going to be close.

Dresden (0-4, 0-2 7-1A) at Humboldt (2-2, 0-1)

The Lions have to find a way to finish in the second half and hold onto halftime leads. They have let leads slip away in each of the last two games. Dresden needs that first region win.
