Weakley County High School Football Pick’em: Week 3

Week 2 did go better than Week 1, but I let a couple misses get by me that I should have thought about more.

I went 12-3 last week. I guess I picked the wrong Gibson County team to pick up their first win of the season as I missed Humboldt’s win over Scotts Hill, and I also missed on Tipton-Rosemark beating Gibson County.

I guess I also put too much stock in Derek Carr’s first season at Lexington as I picked the Tigers to beat defending Class 2A champion Riverside.

But I haven’t missed a Weakley County game yet.

So overall, I am 22-7 (.759 winning percentage) on the season.

Here is hoping for a strong Week 3 with region play kicking off:

Gleason (2-0) at Bruceton (1-1)

Well, this is not a region game. Bruceton gave up 55 points last week in a loss to Camden. Gleason though is going to have to play two halves and not let up after taking a lead.

Odom’s Pick: Gleason 28, Bruceton 21

Greenfield (2-0) at Halls (2-0)

Yes, Halls scored 60 points last week in a win over Rossville Christian. Greenfield is better defensively and shouldn’t give up that many points. And stopping Easton Sullivan, Trey Maben, Landon Clark and Westin Porter has proven tough to do.

Odom’s Pick: Greenfield 27, Halls 24

Dresden (0-2) at Lake County (1-1)

These first two games are ones that the Lions want to forget about. And this is a great chance to do that as Region 7-1A play opens. Westview and McKenzie are the top two teams on Dresden’s schedule.

Odom’s Pick: Dresden 32, Lake County 28

Westview (2-0) at Scotts Hill (0-2)

The Lions are coming off a 14-point loss to Humboldt. So let’s be honest, this score is whatever the Chargers want to make it. I don’t expect the starters to play long.

Odom’s Pick: Westview 52, Scotts Hill 6
