DTF arrests two after Mason Hall standoff
An eight-month investigation by the 28th Judicial District’s Drug Task Force came to a close last Monday night with a standoff in northern Gibson County.
After tracking Jonathon Forrest, a wanted felon, across Middle Tennessee, West Tennessee and parts of Kentucky, Agents followed the 42-year-old Trenton man to an RV parked at a home on Tull Road in Mason Hall.
Forrest barricaded himself inside the RV, but with the help of the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and K-9 units, Forrest eventually surrendered.
While awaiting a search warrant for the premises, Agents saw the vehicle that dropped Forrest off at the RV return to the scene. The driver, 48-year-old Rachel Morgan of Bradford, fled the scene when GCSO Deputies attempted to stop her, leading law enforcement officers on a brief chase before being apprehended.
Once inside, Agents found that Forrest had attempted to flush multiple bags of methamphetamine into the RV’s sewage tank. Agents recovered 6 ounces of meth, 14 ounces of psilocybin, the psychoactive compound found in mushrooms, 2.7 pounds of marijuana, 90 alprzolam pills, three hydrocodone pills and a felony amount of heroin.
Forrest is being charged with two counts possession of Schedule I drugs with intent to sell, possession of schedule II drugs with intent to sell, casual exchange of schedule II drugs, possession of schedule VI drugs with intent to sell, tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as evading arrest, violation of probation and driving on a suspended license.
Morgan is facing charges of evading arrest, resisting arrest, speeding and other traffic offenses related to her attempt to flee.
The Office of the 28th Judicial District Attorney General Frederick Agee is prosecuting this case.
