Alta Rae Butler

Funeral services for Mrs. Alta Butler were held 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Gregory’s Chapel Assembly of God with Rev. Jessica McCoy officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Butler, 86, passed away at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Oklahoma to the late Roland Roy Roberts and Rev. Reba Roberts. Mrs. Butler was a longtime employee with the Jackson-Madison County School System having spent 34 years as a school bus driver. She was also a lifetime member of Gregory’s Chapel Assembly of God where she faithfully served as the pianist for 64 years and loved her church family.

Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irvin “Buddy” Butler; and brother, John Phil Roberts.

She is survived by her children, Michael “Mickey” Butler and wife LeeAnn, Charles “Chuck” Butler and wife Amy, and Sherri Barr and husband Tony; grandchildren, Stacey Reeves (K C), Hillary Adams (Brett), Brooke Raudry (Pedro), Jeffery Butler, Jordan Butler and Lily Butler; great-grandchildren, Dylan Reeves, Cooper Reeves, Aiden Adams and Knox Adams.

Those honoring Mrs. Butler as pallbearers will be Don Williams, Phillip Roberts, K C Reeves, Pedro Raudry, Jeffery Butler and Jordan Butler.
