John Dick Davis

John Davis passed away Monday, July 13, 2020, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a brief illness. A private family visitation was held. A public graveside service with military honors was held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, 6 p.m. at Hopewell Cemetery near Medina, Tenn.

Mr. Davis was born in Lexington, Tenn. to the late Harmon and Lizzie Davis.

He served his country in the U. S. Army, was a member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 45 and was also a Shriner. Mr. Davis operated a barbershop in Jackson, Tenn. for several years. He retired as a machinist from Porter Cable in Jackson. Mr. Davis was a longtime member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Jackson where he served as an elder. He loved his family, church, and gardening (especially tomatoes).

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Frank Walton; daughter, Carol Louise Vance; brother, Thomas “Dude” Davis; and sisters, Mary “Rab” Morgan, Nell Stevenson, Ida Faye Landers, Fredia Walton and Kay Walton.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Catherine Morgan Davis; daughter, Jan (Kevin) Johnson; grandchildren, Kim (Jeff) Beare, John (Tamika) Vance, Tammy (Shane) Ross and Matt (Lisa) Smith; five great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.

Family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Veterans Honor Guard of Parkers Crossroads, 2150 Wildersville Rd. Wildersville, TN 38388.

Arrangements were entrusted to Replogle-Lawrence Funeral Home, Medina.
