Ted “Sonny” Bennett

Funeral services for Mr. Ted Bennett were held 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Meridian Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Gardner and Rev. Larry Kirk officiating. Burial followed in Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Bennett passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020 at his home in Medina, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Decatur County to the late Fieldon Bennett and Georgia Mae Moore Bennett. Mr. Bennett worked as a HVAC tech with the TN National Guard where he retired from serving faithfully after 39 years of service. He was a long time member of Meridian Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was active with men’s ministry. Some of his favorite activities were spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, camping and going on church mission trips.

Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Georgia Mae Bennett, Peggy Sloan and Joyce King.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gail Carter Bennett; sons, David Bennett and wife Amy, and Jason Bennett and wife Christy; grandchildren, Hannah, Holden, Samuel, Rachael, Rayna and Bekah.

Pallbearers to serve were Mark Bland, Holden Bennett, Sam Bennett, Darrell Singleton, Bill Crawford and Bill Diggs. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Sloan, Tim Sloan, Dewayne King and Derrell Mims.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Meridian Baptist Church Men’s Ministry, 161, Harts Bridge Road, Jackson, TN 38301.
