Lady Pioneer basketball team holds 6th annual golf tournament

The Sixth Annual Gibson County Lady Pioneers Golf Tournament, a four-person scramble, was held on Saturday, Sept. 16, at Gibson County Golf Course in Dyer. The Gibson County Lady Pioneers basketball team hosted the event with eight teams and 31 golfers participating. The golf event was open to the public and consisted of a nine-hole and four-person team.

J&B Motors, LLC, was the winning team, shooting a 51. Winning team members were Joey Spellings, Micky Stafford, Mindy McCallum and Brian McDaniel. The winning foursome received $300 but chose to donate it back to the Lady Pioneers Basketball Program. They also won season passes to the 2017-18 GCHS Lady Pioneers and Pioneer basketball season games.

The team of Tom Lannon, Mark Craft, Ethan Temple and Tommy Denson finished in second place, shooting a 53. Three teams tied for third place with a score of 55. Other teams included the Tom Crider team, with Pat Putnam, Clarence Hobbs and Bill Barron; the Chase Whitaker team, with Jimmy Dixon, Tanner Hensley and Lyn Hensley; the Harry Tignor team, with GCHS Principal Jim Hughes, Josh London and Brent London.

Winner for the Closest to the Pin #8 was Micky Stafford; Closest to the Pin #15 was Jimmy Dixon; Longest Drive #5 hole was Tommy Denson; and Longest Drive #10 hole was Tom Crider.

Gibson County Lady Pioneers and Head Coach Mitch Wilkes would like to thank all the scramble sponsors, everyone who played and contributed in any way, making the Sixth Annual Gibson County Lady Pioneers Golf Tournament a huge success.
