Gerald Lee Atkins

Mr. Gerald Atkins, 77 of Dyer, Tenn., passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017, at NHC in Milan.
Funeral services for Mr. Atkins were conducted Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Dyer chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Rice officiating. Interment followed in White Rose Cemetery in Gibson, Tenn. The family received friends from 11 a.m. until service time in the chapel.
Mr. Atkins was born July 26, 1939 in Gibson, the son of late Homer Lee Atkins and Nannie Lura (Fitzgerald) Atkins. He was a maintenance worker of the Tennessee Department of Transportation, and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He served his country with the U.S. National Guard.
He is survived by his mother, Nannie Lura Atkins; two children, Jeremy Atkins (Emily) and Amanda Jones (Jeff); one brother, Steve Atkins; and four grandchildren, Austin Atkins, Adam Atkins, Sydney Jones and Rogan Jones.
Mr. Atkins was preceded in death by his father, Homer Lee Atkins.
Pallbearers were Galen Edwards, Beau Eddings, Ryan Carter, Ross Pierce, David Salles and Kyle Coday.  Honorary pallbearers are Marty Graves and Ronnie Garrett.
