Shelby Diane Hayes Hornbeak passed away after a long fight at Bailey Park Community Living Center, Humboldt, Tenn. on Sunday, June 11, 2017.
She was the daughter of Eugene Howard and Bernice (Surles) Hayes, and was born on March 5, 1951.
Ms. Hornbeak attended schools in Humboldt and had various jobs throughout the area. She worked for the Shopper News for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Bernice (Surles) Hayes; a brother, Wayne Johnson; and a nephew, Roy Johnson.
Ms. Hornbeak is survived by two sons, Paul Christopher Alexander of Humboldt and Jessie Dean Hornbeak (Heather) of Wilmore, Ky.; a brother, Jessie Howard Hayes (Sandy) of Humboldt; and three grandsons, Lukas Alexander of Humboldt, Emery and Oliver Hornbeak of Wilmore; niece, Laurie Reece (Doug) of Westmorland, Tenn.; nephew, Jeffery Johnson of Humboldt; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family was Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 5 until 8 p.m. and Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. until service time at Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 12 noon with Terry Hansen officiating. Graveside services followed in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery near Humboldt.
