Local author to host book launch
Local author Stephen Black will celebrate the release of his new book The Middle of Somewhere: Eight Walks Through the Tamed Wild of West Tennessee with a special community book launch event at Scott’s Pizza Kitchen in Trenton on Thursday, October 29 at 5:30 pm.
The evening will feature a short reading from the book, a brief Q & A session, book signing, and music by Elam McKnight & Lil*Bit.
“There’s no place I’d rather be to celebrate the launch of The Middle of Somewhere than in Trenton, where my walks started and ended,” Black says. “The history and landscape of Gibson County and the lives of all of us who call it home inspired this book. I can’t wait to share it with the community here.”
The Middle of Somewhere tells the story of eight walks Black took over the course of a year in a rough circle around Gibson County, Tennessee, a trip that covered almost 120 miles. He walked from Trenton to Rutherford, Rutherford to Skullbone, Skullbone to Milan, Milan to Humboldt, Humboldt to Brazil, Brazil to Yorkville, Yorkville to Kenton to Rutherford, and Rutherford to Trenton.
The Middle of Somewhere is published by the University of Tennessee Press, the Volunteer State’s book publisher, committed to preserving and promoting the rich cultural and intellectual heritage of Tennessee and the region. Copies will be available for purchase at the event.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
