South Gibson jumps to No. 8 in West Tennessee High School Football Rankings after Week 9

Fall breaks are over, and there are two weeks remaining in the 2025 regular season.

If there is one region to watch over the next two weeks, it is Region 7-4A. South Gibson moved to the top of the region standings with a 4-1 record.

But there five teams one game behind them at 3-2. Crockett County dropped down the rankings after losing to South Gibson, Dyer County re-entered the rankings after beating previously unbeaten USJ, Lexington is still ranked and North Side dropped out to make room for Dyer County.

So be sure to keep up with results these next few weeks as those six teams try to claim four open playoff spots.

So here are the top 15 teams in West Tennessee heading into Week 10 action:

1. Westview (7-0) – The Chargers had an off week. Next week: At Dyersburg. Last week: No. 1.

2. Milan (8-0) – The Bulldogs beat Halls 37-0 in Region 7-2A play. Next week: Open week. Last week: No. 2.

3. Munford (8-0) – The Cougars beat Brighton 39-7 in Region 8-5A play. Next week: Home vs. Germantown. Last week: No. 3.

4. Covington (8-0) – The Chargers beat Dyersburg 31-14 in Region 7-3A play. Next week: Home vs. McNairy Central. Last week: No. 4.

5. Peabody (8-0) – The Golden Tide had an off week. Next week: At Huntingdon. Last week: No. 5.

6. Huntingdon (7-1) – The Mustangs had an off week. Next week: Home vs. Peabody. Last week: No. 8.

7. McKenzie (7-1) – The Rebels had an off week. Next week: Home vs. Wayne County. Last week: No. 10.

8. South Gibson (5-3) – The Hornets beat Crockett County 24-14 in Region 7-4A play. Next week: At North Side. Last week: Nol. 14.

9. Haywood (6-2) – The Tomcats beat Memphis Business 42-40. Next week: Home vs. Ridgeway. Last week: No. 7.

10. USJ (7-1) – The Bruins lost to Dyer County 27-26. Next week: Home vs. Tipton-Rosemark. Last week: No. 6.

11. Crockett County (6-2) – The Cavaliers lost to South Gibson 24-14 in Region 7-4A play. Next week: Home vs. Chester County. Last week: No. 9.

12. TCA (6-2) – The Lions had an off week. Next week: Host DCA. Last week: No. 11.

13. Jackson Christian (7-1) – The Eagles beat Harding Academy 48-13 in Division II-A West region play. Next week: At FACS. Last week: No. 12.

14. Lexington (6-2) – The Tigers beat Lewis County 37-28. Next week: At Hardin County. Last week: No. 15.

15. Dyer County (6-2) – The Choctaws beat USJ 27-26. Next week: Home vs. South Side. Last week: Not ranked.

Dropped out: North Side (5-3).

On the bubble: Dresden (6-2); South Fulton (7-1).
