South Gibson enters West Tennessee High School Football Rankings after Week 8

Half of the teams across West Tennessee were on Fall break last week, so half of the football teams in West Tennessee were also on their off week.

One of the seven undefeated teams took its first loss of the season as Lake County upset South Fulton.

So the Red Devils dropped out of the rankings, and South Gibson – who was off last week but had the biggest win of the season the previous week over Lexington – went back into the rankings.

There are a number of teams off this Friday for Fall break. So here are the top 15 teams in West Tennessee heading into Week 8 action:

1. Westview (7-0) – The Chargers beat Bolivar 58-6 in Region 7-3A play. Next week: Bye week. Last week: No. 1.

2. Milan (7-0) – The Bulldogs were off last week. Next week: At Halls. Last week: No. 2.

3. Munford (6-0) – The Cougars beat Memphis Overton 56-0 in Region 8-5A play. Next week: Home vs. Brighton. Last week: No. 3.

4. Covington (7-0) – The Chargers were off last week. Next week: Home vs. Dyersburg. Last week: No. 4.

5. Peabody (8-0) – The Golden Tide beat Raleigh Egypt 58-12. Next week: Bye week. Last week: No. 5.

6. USJ (7-0) – The Bruins were off last week. Next week: At Dyer County. Last week: No. 6.

7. Haywood (5-2) – The Tomcats were off last week. Next week: Home vs. Memphis Business. Last week: No. 7.

8. Huntingdon (7-1) – The Mustangs beat Harpeth 59-6. Next week: Bye week. Last week: No. 8.

9. Crockett County (6-1) – The Cavaliers were off last week. Next week: At South Gibson. Last week: No. 9.

10. McKenzie (7-1) – The Rebels beat Bruceton 49-6 in Region 6-1A play. Next week: Bye week. Last week: No. 10.

11. TCA (6-2) – The Lions beat Fayette Academy 49-14 in Division II-A West region play. Next week: Bye week. Last week: No. 12.

12. Jackson Christian (6-1) – The Eagles were off last week. Next week: Home vs. Harding Academy. Last week: No. 13.

13. North Side (5-2) – The Indians beat Liberty 49-0. Next week: Home vs. Giles County. Last week: No. 14.

14. South Gibson (4-3) – The Hornets were off last week. Next week: Home vs. Crockett County. Last week: Not ranked.

15. Lexington (5-2) – The Tigers were off last week. Next week: Home vs. Lewis County. Last week: No. 15.

Dropped out: South Fulton (6-1).
