Medina man charged with attempted first degree murder

A Medina man has been charged with two counts of First Degree Murder after a shooting took place Saturday afternoon, May 10, on Bobbitt Road in Medina.

According to a news release from Sheriff Paul Thomas, Gibson County Deputies responded to 105 Bobbitt Rd., and found a 15-year-old male suffering from two non-life-threatening wounds.  The juvenile had one shot to the leg and one to the stomach area.

It was determined that the young man had been shot inside the home by Jamarious Greer, 34.  It was also determined that after shooting the juvenile, Mr. Greer exited the home, continuing to fire the 9 mm SCCY in the front yard.

Mr. Greer also fired shots in the direction of an individual that was driving down Bobbitt Rd. There were 7 people present during the time Mr. Greer was firing random shots with the pistol.

Greer was taken into custody by Gibson County Deputies without any further incident.

Additionally, Mr. Greer was forbidden from possessing a firearm due to previous felony drug conviction.

Greer was transported to the Gibson County Correctional Complex and charged with the following: 2 counts of attempted 1st degree murder, 7 counts of reckless endangerment with a weapon, possession of a firearm with intent to go armed, possession of a firearm while under the influence, and possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.

Greer admitted to authorities that he had been using Cocaine before the shooting took place.  He also admitted to ownership of the gun and to shooting the juvenile.

“I would like to commend the Deputies and Investigators that responded quickly to the seen and securing the safety of everyone in the area,” Sheriff Paul A. Thomas said.

On Tuesday morning, General Sessions Judge Bradley Owens set Greer’s bond at $1,000,000.  He will appear for a preliminary hearing on June 4, at 1 p.m. in Humboldt Court.
