Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) is assisting Milan Special School District with the application and vetting process to hire a new director of schools.  The position came open earlier this year when Jonathan Criswell accepted a job with the Tennessee State Department of Education.

TSBA reveal the finalist for the position at a special called Board meeting on Monday.

The finalist include former Humboldt School Director, Verse Hamlet; Instructional Leadership Director for Memphis-Shelby County Schools, Corey Williams; and Director of Finance, Federal Programs, and Human Resources for Lake County Schools, Stacey Alexander.

Hamlett has 10 years experience as the director of schools, serving in Humboldt schools and currently serving as Director of schools for Fayette County Public Schools.  She also has 3 years experience in central office, 4 years as a principal, 1 year as an assistant principal and 11 years as a classroom teacher.

Alexander is currently the Director of Finance, Federal Programs, and Human Resources for Lake County Schools.  She has 20 years of classroom teaching experience and 3 years working in central office.

Williams served as Instructional Leadership Director for Memphis-Shelby County Schools.  He has 5 years experience at central office, 12 years as a Principal, 3 years as an assistant principal and 4 years as a classroom teacher.

The School board will interview the finalists next week, November 11th through November 15th.  Each candidate will spend a day touring the schools, meeting with central office staff, having dinner with the school board and then doing a formal interview that evening.  Once all 3 finalist have been interviewed, the board will meet on Monday, November 18th to determine if they wish to move forward with a candidate, request a second interview with one of more finalist or interview other candidates from the original list of 19.
