Milan, Williamson qualify for state meet
The tradition continues for the Milan track & field team. For the third consecutive season two Milan athletes have qualified for the Class A state track & field meet at Middle Tennessee State University.
Junior Raven Milan qualified in two events, while junior O’Ryan Williamson qualified in one event after last week’s Class A sectional meet at Lakeland Prep.
The Class A state meet will be held on May 21
Milan won the long jump event at sectionals with a jump of 16-09.00, beating Middle College’s Leah Gregory by two inches.
She also qualified in the 100-meter dash, finishing with a time of 12.50. That time was good enough for third place –
0.09 seconds out of second place, and she got one of the at-large bids into the state meet.

Williamson finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.03, which was 0.24 seconds out of first place. He received an at-large bid to the state meet.
Milan’s relay teams had strong finishes, but they weren’t good enough to reach the state meet. The 4×100 finished fifth with a time of 44.01, and the 4×200 finished ninth with a time of 1:35.03.
