Dyersburg, Henry County joins West Tennessee High School Football Rankings after Round 2

We are down to only the top eight teams in each classification. There are no more easy games, and only the best teams in West Tennessee are still alive.

Dyersburg and Henry County managed to keep their seasons alive and reach the quarterfinals of the Class 3A and Class 5A playoffs, respectively. And so those two are the newest teams to join the West Tennessee High School Football Rankings. Meaning every West Tennessee still alive is now ranked.

So here are the top 15 teams in West Tennessee heading into quarterfinals of playoff action:

1. Westview (11-0) – The Chargers beat Westmoreland 55-7 in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs. Next week: Home vs. Melrose. Last week: No. 1.

2. Milan (11-0) – The Bulldogs beat Mt. Pleasant 42-16 in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs. Next week: Home vs. East Nashville. Last week: No. 2.

3. Huntingdon (11-1) – The Mustangs beat Lewis County 49-22 in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs. Next week: Home vs. East Robertson. Last week: No. 3.

4. McKenzie (11-1) – The Rebels beat Greenfield 56-6 in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs. Next week: At Richland. Last week: No. 4.

5. Covington (11-1) – The Chargers beat Sycamore 56-14 in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs. Next week: Home vs. Dyersburg. Last week: No. 6.

6. South Gibson (9-3) – The Hornets beat Spring Hill 42-7 in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs. Next week: Home vs. Springfield. Last week: No. 7.

7. USJ (10-1) – The Bruins beat Donelson Christian Academy 28-7 in the quarterfinal round of the Division II-A playoffs. Next week: At Providence Christian. Last week: No. 8.

8. Henry County (8-3) – The Patriots beat Nolensville 31-24 in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs. Next week: Home vs. Centennial. Last week: Not ranked.

9. Munford (10-2) – The Cougars lost to Beech 33-30 in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs. Next week: Season complete. Last week: No. 5.

10. TCA (10-2) – The Lions beat Middle Tennessee Christian School 49-0 in the quarterfinal round of the Division II-A playoffs. Next week: At Nashville Christian. Last week: No. 11.

11. Dyersburg (8-4) – The Trojans beat Fairview 52-35 in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs. Next week: At Covington. Last week: Not ranked.

12. Crockett County (9-3) – The Cavaliers lost to Pearl Cohn 35-21 in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs. Next week: Season complete. Last week: No. 19.

13. Peabody (9-3) – The Golden Tide lost to East Robertson 35-14 in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs. Next week: Season complete. Last week: No. 10.

14. Dyer County (9-3) – The Choctaws lost to Marshall County 41-14 in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs. Next week: Season complete. Last week: No. 12.

15. Dresden (9-2) – The Lions lost to Fayetteville 41-21 in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs. Next week: Season complete. Last week: No. 14.

Dropped out: Jackson Christian (9-3); Lexington (9-3)
