Hadley earns GFOA award for 10th time

Only one city in Tennessee outside Shelby County received this award. And it was Humboldt. And it was Kim Hadley who made it happen — for the 10th year in a row.

Kim Hadley, Humboldt city treasurer and CFO, has earned the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the U.S. and Canada.

The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

“Kim keeps us financially strong,” said Mayor Marvin Sikes when the award was announced at the city board meeting last week.

“He and his staff do a great job. He’s a great person to work with,” Sike said.

“Seems like he loves it,” said alderman James Shivers.

“It speaks to your heart to do this great job,” said alderwoman Donna Johnson.

The award was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.
